Legal Framework

This chapter is designed to be an introduction to the field of Law. We will present how the Roman law developed and transformed in time in the current legal system, and what elements are still existent after thousands of years. Next to the historical explanations, we will display some basic concepts that are relevant in understanding law, such as the difference between civil and common law, procedural and substantive law, and the separation of powers in state.
